2. How is the Netdisk diffrent from a NAS or SAN? |
NDAS technology is the world's most advanced and smart network storage solution. Other competitor network storage solutions like NAS are still based on decade-old technology. Consequently, NDAS enables many advanced features and a higher performance standard which other solutions are not able to provide. For a detailed description click here |
3. What Operating Systems does NetDisk support? |
NetDisk, NetDisk Mini, and NetDisk Office supports:
Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP/2003 and Mac OS X 10.0 - 10.5
If you are using via USB, then NetDisk uses your Operating System's built-in drivers. You DO NOT have to install drivers. If using Windows 98SE, then you will have to download USB drivers from our website.
If you are using Windows 2003 Server, then it is recommend to reformat the
drive from the 2003 Server before use.

4. What file system does NetDisk use or come preformatted to? |
NetDisk is file system independent.
Your Operating System has specific file system requirements.
NetDisk does come pre-formatted in NTFS, but can be formatted to any file system that your OS can support. |
5. Does XIMETA perform or provide Data Recovery Services? |
XIMETA does not perform any data recovery services.
If you are unable to access data on your NetDisk due to a defective Hard Drive, you may wish to contact an independent, data recovery service provider.
If the Hard Drive is still functioning, there is Data Recovery software out there that can get your data back. |
6. How many users can use a NetDisk™? |
Theoretically, there is no limit, but we recommended not more than 16 simultaneous connections. |
7. Can I use NetDisk over a VPN or as an FTP server? |
Currently, NetDisk cannot be used directly over a VPN directly or as an FTP server. You can use a file sharing method such as Windows File Sharing to access NetDisk over a VPN, but that would require a host computer to be on in order for NetDisk to be accessible. For FTP, you can connect NetDisk to an FTP server and have files downloaded directly to NetDisk. |
8. Do I have to install NetDisk software on all my computers? |
Any computer that will access NetDisk in NDAS (Ethernet) mode will need to have our software installed.
USB does NOT require any drivers to be installed unless you are using Windows98SE. |
9. Does NetDisk have an IP address? |
NetDisk does not use IP Addressing and does not run TCP/IP.
We have developed a very unique technology called NDAS- Network Direct Attached Storage that is designed to run with lower overhead and eliminates the need for a processor. In turn, this makes speeds much faster and your data more secure. |
10. Are there any known issues with NetDisk? |
There is a compatibility issue when used with certain wireless routers/cards. It does work when not using the wireless function (wired connection).
The unsupported routers/cards are:
DLINK-713P, 714P
SMC-7004AWBR, SMC7000VWBR
Linksys WAG54G
Linksys WPC11 Version 4 card
**2Wire Users: Since 2Wire is a proprietary hardware, in most cases both wireless and wired connections do not function with the Netdisk since the 2Wire device itself does not handle the Netdisk connection. A workaround is to use a separate switch/router and use the 2Wire device as a modem only and have the Netdisk and your computers conencted to this separate router/switch.
If you have a router using that has Turbo Mode, then you may have to switch to 54G mode to use with NetDisk.
Also Mirroring and Aggregation of NetDisk is not supported via wireless. Every computer must access NetDisk from a wired connection if using this feature. |
